Per-person split
Tip is calculated on the bill amount you enter and split evenly across the party. Rounded per-person figures may differ from the total by a cent. An estimate to help you split a check, not financial advice.
About this calculator
A free tip calculator that turns a restaurant or bar bill into a clear tip and total, then splits it evenly across your party. Enter the bill, choose a tip percentage, and set how many people are sharing, and it shows the tip dollars, the all-in total, and the per-person tip and total. Everything runs in your browser; the result is a quick estimate to help you split a check, not financial advice.

Questions
- Is the tip calculator free?
- Yes. It is free, needs no account, and calculates entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
- How much should I tip in the US?
- Sit-down restaurant tips in the United States generally run 15% to 20% of the bill. 15% is a common baseline, 18% reads as solid service, and 20% has become the default many diners reach for after good table service.
- How does the bill split work?
- The calculator divides the total — bill plus tip — evenly by the number of people you enter, then shows each person's share of the tip and of the full amount. Because the per-person figures are rounded to the cent, they can sum to a cent more or less than the displayed total.
- Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
- Tip is calculated on whatever bill figure you enter. If you prefer to tip on the pre-tax subtotal, type that number; if you tip on the after-tax total, enter that instead.
